Jeera Rice is a simple flavoured rice that goes well with any gravy or masala curries. I often make this rice but for some reason never got a chance to post it on my blog. I already posted Jeera Muttar Rice/ Cumin Peas Rice but jeera rice is a basic dish with no veggies.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time : 25 minutes

Serves: 2-3

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice: 2 cups

Ghee : 3 tablespoons

Jeera/cumin : 1 teaspoon

Shahi jeera : 1 teaspoon

cloves : 7

Green cardamom : 5

Cinnamon : 2 inch piece

Star Anise : 1

Bay leaves : 2

Salt to taste (I added 1 1/2 teaspoons)

Method:

Heat ghee in a pan and add ingredients except rice and salt. Saute for 1 minute.

Turn on the rice cooker, add rice, 4 cups of water, ghee and the spices, salt and mix well.

Once the rice cooker goes to warm, leave it for 10 minutes before serving.

Serve hot with any curry of your choice. I served with Mutter Paneer.
