Pasta sauce is easy to make it at home. Fresh ingredients that go into making this sauce is addictive. Probably you’ll never go back to the store bought ones.
This sauce works well with pizza and pasta as well. Making this sauce does need a little patience as it’s cooked for couple hours but the end result is totally worth it.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time : 2 1/2 hours
Makes : 2 kgs
Ingredients :
Tomatoes : 2 kgs
Onions : 2 large finely chopped
Carrot : 2 large grated
Garlic: 6-8 pods minced
Fresh basil : 1 cup chopped
Red pepper flakes : 1/2 teaspoon
Granulated Sugar: 1 teaspoon
Butter : 4 tablespoons
Olive oil : 1/4 cup
water : 3/4 cups
Dry Oregano : 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Method:
Wash and cut the tomatoes in a + mark on the top. Boil water and blanch the tomatoes.
Drain the water and peel the skins off. Let them cool and put them into a blender and crush them.
Heat oil in a large sauce pan, add onions and sauce until they turn translucent. Add garlic, stir and cook for 30 seconds. Add red pepper flakes, salt, sugar, oregano, stir and combine.
Add butter and stir, add the crushed tomatoes and basil leaves. Stir well so nothing sticks to the bottom. Lower the flame and cook for 2 hours.
Add water when the sauce is getting thicker, stir and cook until the sauce reaches correct consistency.
Let the sauce cool and store it in glass containers.
